Obama's Divvied-Up Jobs Bill

In the tough economy we live in, many teaches, cops, and other people in different fields of work are loosing their jobs. President Obama's bill will use $35 billion in aid to state and local governments to rehire or retain teachers and first responders jobs. "The bill we are introducing today continues that focus by creating or saving approximately 400,000 jobs," Obama promises. Democrats have revived a surtax on Americans, making more than $1 million to pay for the bill. In 2010 200,000 teachers lost their job and the bill is set up for reasons such as these.

Do you think this bill is good idea for America moving forward or a bad idea? Explain.

  1. i think this could be good and bad. Good because more people that desperately need jobs are possibly going to get them and earn the money they need to support themselves and there family. but bad because i think we owe so much money in debt to other countries we should be putting most of our money towards that, not making the debt way worse then its already gotten to be.

  2. i think this law is a good idea. i think it is good because there are so many Americans in our country that don't have jobs. you need a job and money to live and survive in this country. With this law it could really help out our country.

  3. I think that this is a good idea too, but i think Obama should have done this sooner during his presidency. That way he could have stopped the problem before it got really bad and he would have had to do less work.

  4. I agree with tom on the part that Obama should have tried to prevent this problem. Also if he did it earlier in his presidency he could have done this without problem.

  5. I believe that they shouldn't have cut the jobs in the first place and used that money for the people already working there, before they lose their jobs. I guess it is a good start but would everyone who did lose their jobs get them back? To me the Bill still needs a little work, but a good start in the right direction.

  6. I think that it is a good idea to help fix the cuts on teachers and first responders because those are some of the more immediately important jobs that affect people in our country. they are important jobs not to cut especially with a growing population that needs rescue and education greatly.

  7. I agree with karleen. We shouldn't have cut the schools. I feel if we were to cut back on our spending by the goverment I feel we should pull it out of other areas. I feel this bill is good, but I feel it shouldn't have happend in the first place. We should give the money back to the schools.

  8. I think this bill should potentially increase teacher's chance of being hired again and also help lower job employment probably, Our education is an important and essential factor of our life, taking teacher's jobs isn't a good effort of an idea for a falling economy, so this bill is potentially a good idea.

  9. I believe this will help the economy by creating more teaching jobs which will eventually create smaller classes. Smaller classes means more one-on-one time with the teacher to help you understand the subject. Educating the young is one of the most important thing to do to help the economy in the future.

  10. I think this law is a very good idea because it will give many of our citizens their jobs back so they'll be able to pay bills and put food on the table for them and their families. Also, if people have jobs less financial aid, food stamps, section 8, etc will need to be used.

  11. I also agree that this law is very good because in no way can people afford to keep loosing their jobs, those with families they need to provide for don't deserve to be unemployed. With this bill many people in the future will not have to suffer in this economy by loosing their jobs. Hopefully this bill will be passed because without it the economy will just go even more down hill then it already is.

  12. i think this is a good idea because this is a advantage to people that have been unemployed because of what our economy has been going through.
