more blacks leave NYC, Chicago for south

trecently there has been a high number of african american that are migrating to the south. after the great migration in 1910 the share of blacks in the south hit an all-time low of 53€ percent and has been raised to 57 percent. blacks tend to vote democrat, how could the large number of africans americans moving to the south affect the elections.

  1. African Americans moving south could effect he election because african americans votes add up to a pretty big percentage of votes. Without these votes the election could change greatly.

  2. The African American population can greatly effect the election. Seeing there is a 57% population and the majority of them are democrats, their votes could overpower the republican votes.

  3. This could change primarily republican states in the south to democratic if there are enough African Americans moving there. However, when they leave the northern states that could have the same effect in primarily democratic states when the democratic voters leave. I think we may see a slight change in the state's votes but I also think it will even out in the end.

  4. I agree with everyone elses posts, it could shift the states in both the north and south on how they typically vote which can alter how the elections go this coming year.

  5. The large number of blacks moving down south has a major affect on the 2012 election. Many of blacks are democrat so they will definitely boost the democrat vote of the states they are moving too. On the other hand, some blacks moving to the south which is very republican might change to a republican vote because of politics and their new culture and environment they will be experiencing.

  6. i belive that the african americans population affects the election. the large number of blaks moving to the south can effect the election because most of them are democrat and it can over rule the republican votes.

  7. This is very possible going to wffect the voting that we know now. We know that african americans have a tendency to vote democratic and if they migrate to the republican states. They could become democratic, flipin the views of the states.

  8. Since African Americans tend to vote more towards democratic then any southern state it might change the percent of democratic votes pf southern states that tend to vote more towards republicans.

  9. African american shifting the the south potentially would change the percentage of votes in the south, since black vote democratic, this would increase democratic votes state-wide. But if black are "Migrating" Aren't they moving and changing location? If this is correct, would the north then be affected?

  10. African americans would effect the elections because them migrating in large numbers and as JD said they tend to vote democratically, that would automatically give the democrates a much greater chance of being elected. It would also effect the elections because it would be increasing the number of people that are voting which could also have an impact on who wins.

  12. African Americans will cause a great change in the voting elections in southern states. Since most are democratic it could change the southern vote to democrat. If this happen it is more of a possibility of having a democratic president.

  15. This effects the elections because it would now be more likely for the Southern states to vote democratic.
